I have been traveling a ton lately! BEAUTY HACKS FOR THE MORNING AFTER

A night out with friends is always fun. However, when you wake up the next morning, the struggle can be real and getting ready for work can be even worse. With National Margarita Day tomorrow, here are 5 beauty hacks for you to utilize Tuesday morning after a few too many shots of Patron.

1.) Skip coffee! Your body is already dehydrated after a night of drinking, and coffee will add to that mess. Instead grab something like a Gatorade to refuel.

2.) Depuff your eyes! Put two spoons in the freezer. Once they're ice cold put them over your eyes. This will contract your eye vessels and make you look more refreshed.

3.) Use dry shampoo. It will absorb oil, get rid of any lingering bar odors, and boost volume.

4.) Use multi-purpose products. BB Cream, CC cream, and/or color sticks can make 1 product cover multiple steps.

5.) Use dark pink. It brightens the face, brings life, and will mask any sign of a late night out, whether it's on your lips or your cheeks.

Enjoy National Margarita Day!

EARTH'S HEALING

Essential oils are a great, holistic way to bring healing. These highly concentrated plants are natural and can provide many benefits. Some of these benefits, dependent upon the oil, are able to clear bacteria, relax the body, help with indigestion, detox the body, help with alertness, relieve sore muscles, rid of flu symptoms, and clear sinuses. With so many different types of oils, it can be overwhelming to know the right brands and right types of oils for you.

However, with Earth's Healing Boxes, the stress is taken out of deciding. This monthly subscription box includes three therapeutic grade essential oils and recipe cards for how to create your own blends. It also includes an already blended oil and a surprise gift.

The February box had oils specific to Valentine's Day. The first oil was Rose, which is an aphrodisiac, prevents viruses, and can also act as an antidepressant. The second oil was Star Anise, which is anti-bronchial and anti-asthmatic. The third oil, french lavender, is one of my favorites. It is detoxifying, soothing, and good as an antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, and eases insomnia. The already blended oil that was in the box was Litsea Cubeba May Chang. This calming blend is anti-bronchial, anti-asthmatic, anti-viral, and anti bacterial. Lastly included were cotton balls and a tea ball diffuser.

Try out Earth's Healing Boxes and begin to heal naturally for only $49.99.

DETOX WEEK

Sometimes you need to hit reset. Like after an epic weekend of drinking and eating until your heart's content with your family from all over the country at your cousin's wedding. This week for me is going to be about starting fresh. Here's my "Detox" plan for the week.

Before breakfast - shot of apple cider vinegar (This helps flush the system and speed up metabolism)

AM Cardio - While fasted cardio is not always the best, this is a good way to get my cells blasted this week.

Breakfast - 2 hard boiled eggs, gluten free toast, avocado spread...perfect blend of protein, carbs, and healthy fats.

Snack #1 - Grapefruit (curbs hunger)

Lunch - Lean protein, veggies, quinoa

Snack 2 - Veggies, hummus

PM Cardio & Toning - I rarely do cardio twice in a day, but while detoxing the body this will help me to sweat out all the alcohol and toxins consumed this weekend.

Dinner - Lean protein, green veggies

After dinner - lemon detox tea

I will also be sure to consume at least 100 ounces of water each day to detoxify the system and remain hydrated since I will be doing double the doses of cardio.

GRADBIN REVIEW

GradBin is a monthly subscription box tailored to college students. The box contains snacks, games, and more to get you through college life. The number of products per box depends on if you order the original (5-7) or the mini (3-4).

The theme of the January box was New Years Resolutions. It included a tote, Simple Squares Organic Snack Bars, Barney Butter Snack Packs, a Water Bean filter, Munk Pack Squeeze, and a deck of cards. I love that everything in this box is great for life on the go. I am really excited to bring all these snacks with me on my next trip and am glad to know since they survived shipping they will likely survive in the black abyss that is my purse.

The original GradBin costs $24.95 per month plus shipping. I imagine this is about the cost of the products as a whole. For the monthly price this is a kind and simple way to surprise your college student.

FTC Disclosure: I received these products complimentary from GradBin for testing purposes only. All opinions above are true and my own.

NATIONAL PIZZA DAY!

Today is National Pizza Day! However, as I am trying to eat more healthy and I am unable to work out as much as usual due to a broken wrist, I have to be cautious in my pizza indulgence. Here is a great homemade pizza recipe that is healthier than calling Domino's!

How To:
1.) Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
2.) Grease a foil lined baking sheet.
3.) Stretch dough out across baking sheet, to be a 1/4" thick rectangle.
4.) Poke dough with a fork and season. (I used Mrs. Dash's Garlic & Herb Seasoning)
5.) Bake for 15 minutes.
6.) Cut zucchini and squash into 1/4" half moons.
7.) Chop parsley leaves.

DATES IN A BOX

It's been almost 4 years since I met my sweet boyfriend. As time passes in a relationship it begins to get hard to be creative with date nights and gift giving.

One way to combine both of those is by giving dates in a box.

Get 12 manila envelopes. Label them 1-12. Fill these envelopes with items for pre planned date nights.

Here are some ideas for potential envelopes:

1.) Picnic -- list of local parks, two brown lunch bags, plastic ware

2.) Game night -- dessert, winner prize

3.) Brunch and a yard sale

4.) Chopped -- 2 $10 bills, list of 4 ingredients

5.) Putt Putt

6.) Ice Cream Crazy -- sundae toppings

7.) Santa Monica Pier (great date night for people local to Los Angeles; there are often Groupons for the rides at the pier)

8.) Mall Scavenger Hunt

9.) Fort and a movie -- Red Box coupon code, popcorn

10.) Cowboy Date Night -- We have a local line dancing bar, it could be a fun date night!

11.) Cosmic Bowling -- glowsticks

12.) Dinner out -- restaurant gift card

Leave comments below with your idea for date in a box!

VALENTINE'S DAY OUTFIT

Valentine's Day is just a week away. Yesterday I shared a Valentine's date makeup look and today is a Valentine's inspired outfit. This floral, pastel look was inspired by Becca Tilley's look from The Bachelor this week on her Mexico City group date. * This look is great for any Valentine's outings, from a date with BAE, brunch with the girls, or just doing the usual Sunday Funday around the house.

*I could not find a photo of this. Then again, I didn't try super hard. I can only type with my left hand do to a broken wrist and if you don't watch The Bachelor you should just leave my blog now.

GRRLBOX REVIEW

Let's be real here. The time of the month sucks. As if the cramps, headaches, and crankiness isn't enough, just getting up and going to get stuff to make you feel better adds to the mess. However, with Grrl Box all of that is eliminated.

Grrl Box is a monthly subscription service that delivers period friendly products straight to your doorstep. Each box includes snacks, chocolate, underwear, a pampering product, an item to relieve stress, and feminine hygiene products. My favorite thing about this box is that you are able to let Grrl Box know prior what kind of chocolate you prefer, your size of underwear, and what type of feminine hygiene products you prefer.

In my Grrl Box I received coconut chips, caramel pretzel chocolate (not picture because I chowed down on that the minute it came...holy cow!), dry shampoo, a planner and pen, cake mix, underwear, and tampons. Grrl Box costs $35/month and makes that time of the month much more manageable. I highly recommend you check them out. It's like having a PMS Fairy come to your house!

WINTER WEDDING ATTIRE

Next weekend I am headed to a wedding in Houston. While Texas afternoons this time of year are extremely unpredictable, dressing for them formally can be slightly more difficult than just throwing on jeans and a couple layers. Below are three simple outfits for winter weddings. Throw on a cute petticoat and you're good to go.

PRAYING FOR YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER

Prior to meeting my boyfriend, I prayed to God about the type of man He would provide me. In high school and the beginning of college I had horrible luck with guys. They would really like me for a couple weeks, but then hit a halt. I prayed for someone who would love me when my true colors came out beyond the honeymoon phase. I prayed for someone who would be patient, humble, encouraging, and honest. But most importantly I prayed for someone who loved God slightly more than he loved me. After God granted me with the man of my prayers (and not of my dreams) I continued to pray and I still do. I pray for our relationship, our careers, and our families. I pray for our bad days, our good days, and all in between. And I mostly pray for us to continue growing in our faith, both together and separately.

Here are 5 verses to pray for your significant other, that I often pray:

  • "As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Ephesians 4:1-2; Pray that they continue to grow strong in their faith and love for Christ, humbly, gently, and patiently.
  • "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who live him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28; Pray that they will follow their God given purpose, even when days are long and rough.
  • "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him." Psalm 28:7; Pray that they will turn toward the Lord in hardships and that they will praise Him for all of their days.
  • "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." Psalm 119:105; Pray that they will seek His word and guidance when looking for direction.
  • "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and He will flee from you." James 4:7; Pray that they will resist temptation and turn from evil.
How do you pray for your significant other?

SELF AWARENESS

Recently life has gotten pretty crazy. I knew 2016 was going to be a wild ride, but not to this extent. In January, I felt like I was barely swimming. Between work, school, starting a bible study, fitness coaching, blogging, and other family events, each day was a struggle to get what needed to get done in the 24 hours given. A lot of times I caught myself saying the silly Instagram quote, "You have the same 24 hours in the day as Beyonce" to give myself some sort of encouragement.

In the midst of this month, I found myself drawing more near to God, which is the best direction to go. But finally on one of the last days of the month, I cracked. My poor Dad has always been the one to receive the mental breakdown phone call. While 80% of the tears were probably pure exhaustion, the other 20% were likely me finally being aware of the fact that I had forgotten to leave myself time to just breathe.

After the sob fest, I did yoga and meditation--two things I have never been much of a fan of--and I have never felt so clear. The next day I hopped on a flight to Denver to visit my cousins, no to-do lists included. As I head back to LA (and the reality of life) on February 1st, I am promising myself time for myself this month, even if that means writing it in my planner. Fifteen minutes an evening, cell phone free, to sit in silence and meditate in His word and free myself from anything drawing me away from Him.
