MY SIGNATURE STYLE IN 5 TAG

Thank you Alexandrea Garza for tagging me to do "My Signature Style in 5." Last year I did a ton of tag videos & posts, and I am glad that they are making their way back around the internet.

  1. Who are your style icons? Nicole Richie, Lauren Conrad, and Kourtney Kardashian are my favorite celebrity style icons. My YouTube style icons are Kalyn Nicholson, Bethany Mota, and Sarah Reyes.
  2. Best style tip or advice? Be true to yourself. Wear what you want to wear and style it however best suits you. Don't focus on trends or what everyone else is doing.
  3. What was your style like as a teen? Pretty bland. I think I wore jeans and a sweatshirt to school most days. I did NOT have great style.
  4. What type of outfit do you wear the most? I think I wear workout clothes the most. After work I change into joggers and a t shirt and Nike's to work out and run errands.
  5. Who is your favorite designer? Lauren Conrad. Her prices are great and I love her style.
I tag CarlieStylez, Marissa Lace, and Adrienne Finch to participate in the My Signature Style in 5 Tag!

FUN HALLOWEEN HAIR

This past weekend I saw this adorable, fun Halloween hairstyle on Kayli Butler's YouTube channel, HeyKayli. She is one of my favorite YouTubers, with a ton of fun, simple DIY projects to do at home, in the kitchen, and with beauty. When I saw her do this hairstyle to her daughter Brailee, I knew I had to try it for Crazy Hair Day at school yesterday. I was SO excited. However, yesterday morning I woke up with golfball eyes, dumbo ears, and itching like a dog with fleas, so I had to miss Crazy Hair Day and spend it in Urgent Care then sleeping off the allergy meds. I am definitely going to do this hair on actual Halloween since I won't be dressing up. Check this video out, as well as the rest of HeyKayli's channel!

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE SHAKE

One of my favorite parts of fall is pumpkin everything!
I love Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Latte, but they have hundreds of calories. (The one I get is 455 calories.) However, I found a delicious alternative, that is only 167 calories and full of nutrition!

1 scoop of vanilla Shakeology
1 tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer
8 oz of coffee (brew, then put in freezer for 30-45 min)
a couple dashes of ground cinnamon
Ice

Blend all & enjoy!

LAMAR ODOM

Whenever something tragic happens to a public figure, it is displayed on numerous news outlets with various sides to the story. In Lamar Odom's case, the past couple years of his life have been full of tragedy displayed for the nation to see. Over the course of just a few years, Lamar Odom's six month old son died to SIDS, his basketball career vanished, his marriage to Khloe Kardashian ended very publicly, the death of his cousin, involvement in a fatal car accident, and two of his closest friends overdosed. These painful experiences sent Lamar on a downward spiral of drug use and promiscuity.

In times like these, many are quick to judge. However, Lamar Odom knew no better than the example that has been set for him throughout his life, with an alcoholic, abusive father. Basketball has been Odom's identity throughout his life. Playing as a toddler, all the way up to 2014, when he was waived by the Knicks. Instead of finding his identity in Christ, he found it in something that was so easily taken away.

During this time, it is easy to throw shade toward the Kardashian family, but let's utilize our energy to uplift Lamar in prayer. Pray for his health, his children, his future, and for his energy to be channeled positively to finding a new identity in Christ.

SUPER GAINS PACK

There are so many various fitness and nutrition products that setting foot into a supplement shop can be overwhelming. However, with Super Gains Pack, you can sample new supplements from major brands. This monthly box of fitness goodies provides you with thermogenics, protein bars, pre-workout, aminos, and more that will help you get the gains you desire.

There are three different sizes of SGP that can be ordered.

The Gains Pack is $12/month and includes 6-8 samples, including a full size protein bar.

The Big Gains Pack is $20/month and includes 9-12 samples, a full size protein bar, full size endurance gel or nutritional snack, and 1 brand name trial size supplement bag.

The Super Gains Pack is $28/month and the BEST value. It includes 13-15 samples, a full size protein bar, full size endurance gel and nutritional snack, 2 brand name trial size supplement bags, a meal prep plan for a week with a grocery list, and a high protein snack recipe with a grocery list.

Both the Big Gains Pack and Super Gains Pack include a free shaker bottle on your first order.

My favorite things in this month's pack were:

  • Fit Miss Ignite Pre Workout
  • Cellucor Cor-Performance Whey
  • Jekyll Prosupps
  • Oxy Elite Pro
This is a monthly subscription box that I would 100% recommend. It is a great way to try new fitness supplements before purchasing them full size. It is valued way higher than you purchase it for. This is one box that I will DEFINITELY be subscribing to.

To order their next box, which will be PUMPKIN THEMED for the fall, visit their website!

FTC Disclosure: I received these products complimentary from Super Gains Pack for testing purposes only. All opinions above are true and my own.

#WCW ADRIENNE FINCH

One of my favorite parts of social media and blogging is being able to connect with other hard-working, driven, passionate women. About six months ago I stumbled upon Adrienne Finch on YouTube through the collaboration channel, Just Like That. I subscribed to her personal channel and have enjoyed her videos ever since. She is extremely talented and her desire to make it to the top is visible in her hard work. I have no doubt that Adrienne will reach her goal of having one million YouTube subscribers in the next couple years.

This Seattle native was a screen writing major at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. While interning at Awesomeness TV she was exposed to the power of YouTube. In January 2014, Adrienne created her channel and has loved having a platform to express her creativity while entertaining and inspiring others. Almost a year later, she met Monica and Shelby Church (two influential YouTubers) at a movie premiere. They invited Adrienne to join Just Like That, which has nearly half a million subscribers on YouTube.

What drew me to Adrienne most when I started watching her was her realness. We are about the same age and are both recent college graduates. Adrienne is well composed, articulate, and creative. While extremely busy and involved in various activities, she has a power to remain balanced.

"I make sure I always love what I'm doing," says Adrienne. "If I didn't love what I was doing, I learned to say no. Learning how to say no is an important part of life. You can't take on everything. This helped me to balance it all."

Adrienne balances her crazy schedule of two YouTube channels, a social life, and a full time job as the Manger of Digital Development and Fan Engagement at Legion Creative Group through to do lists. (I told you I liked her.) She keeps a sticky tab open on her computer for each area of her life, with a running to do list of things she needs to get done regarding each area. As she makes her to do lists for each day, she references these sticky tabs.

Her advice to staying motivated? Look long term. Set goals for yourself. Take breaks. Be sure you love what you're doing. Step away if you need to and come back refreshed. "Also...coffee's really good."

FIGHT THE FUNK

Feeling Blue? Things happen. Don’t let it take the day, week, or month from you. Attack back. You have made it this far, you are strong enough to continue to make it.

1.) Pray. The snake knows your weaknesses. Pray them out of your heart.
“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Psalms 34:17

2.) Get some sunshine. Vitamin D can do wonders for your soul. Go for a 30 minute walk in the sun. Sit out back with a glass of lemonade in a rocking chair with a book or your Bible. Let your skin absorb the sunshines.

3.) Take your vitamins. Vitamin B12, Fish Oil, St. John’s Wort, and Zinc are all known cures for anxiety and depression. Pick some up at your local drugstore and be sure to take them daily.

4.) Journal. When you write out how you feel, it can help you make sense of it all. Sometimes getting out your emotions and thoughts makes you feel better.

5.) Set three goals. If you want to just lay in bed, make yourself take care of three things that day. Those three accomplishments can help motivate you to keep going in your day. Think about long term goals as well. If you want a new career, don’t spend the day sleeping. Spend the day applying to jobs.

6.) Workout. A little cardio or lifting weights can give you adrenaline and endorphins to lift your mood, as well as helping to create a happier, healthier you.

7.) Do something for ten seconds. Force yourself to smile for ten seconds. Jump up and down for ten seconds. That burst of energy can really help.

8.) Just relax. If none of these things help, just accept the funk. Allow yourself an off day. Cuddle up with a good book or a movie and start fresh tomorrow.

On Thursday afternoon, ten people were killed in a shooting at Umpqua Community College. During tragedies like this, many are left wondering how God could allow horrific things like this to happen to innocent people and how to make sense of the hurting inflicting their pain on others.

In Romans 3:10-18, the Lord says, "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery marks their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is no fear of God before their eyes."

No one on this Earth deserves this life and each second we spend alive is given to us through the grace of God. Unfortunately, the victims of the Umpqua shooting had their lives taken far earlier than anyone would dream.

During this time we must pray for the victims and their families. We must pray for the shooter and forgiveness. We must pray for the mentally ill. Pray for peace, faith, and answers.

God bless.

BE LIKE STEPHEN

"And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people." Acts 6:8

When choosing the twelve disciples, Stephen was chosen because of his grace and great works amongst the people. He was stoned by the Jews and as he entered heaven and saw Jesus, onlookers said Stephen looked like an angel. Stephen is considered to be the first martyr of Christianity.

This month I challenge you to be like Stephen. Put your faith in Christ before anything else. When you make Christ the center of your world, everything else falls into place. Be so in awe of Jesus, that you beam like an angel. Do great for other and expect nothing in return.
