Kofi Annan said, “there is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.” Apparently ESPN reporter Britt McHenry missed this memo.
Last week a video was released with McHenry speaking in a demeaning manner to a tow company employee. I am sure you have all seen the video. If not, I will let you find it yourself. The words she spoke to the employee are not words that will be printed on my blog.
She was negative, cruel, and a bully. McHenry is in a position as a public figure to share a message of confidence, empowerment, and positivity. I believe that she is not sorry for what she said, she is only sorry that she got caught.
Three days prior to the release of this footage, McHenry posted on FaceBook, “Take the high road and be nice to people.” If only she had taken her own advice she could have saved herself a one week suspension from ESPN and a whole lot of hate from America.
As women we need to stick together. Support each other, uplift each other, and encourage each other. Some ways we can empower women are:
1.) Be positive
2.) Compliment others.
3.) Pay it forward.
4.) Pray for each other.
How do you feel about the Britt McHenry situation?
How do you empower others?
